Blakes of Dover

Blakes of Dover is a small hotel with a restaurant and cosy cellar bar. The bar inside Blakes of Dover was the 2006 winner of the CAMRA East Kent Pub of the Year competition. The restaurant on entry level provides a quieter area to enjoy a meal, however, food can be served down in the bar where there is often live music or on sunnier days outside in the patio garden. Blakes of Dover serve a range of real ales as well as Czech larger and German wheat beer, they also serve both local and west country ciders.

Breakwater Brewery & Taproom

The Breakwater is both a Brewery and a Taproom where Dover brewed, modern beers are both created and enjoyed. They have blackboard describing the flavour, strength and bitterness of their current and upcoming selection of ales, also available are guest beers and ciders, a small selection of wines and a range of speciality gins. Their some of their own brewed beers are seasonal and some are completely limited edition so each visit could be unique. As a small business, The Breakwater Brewery and Taproom aim to help other local small businesses and farmers through partnerships and collaborations. The Taproom does serve some snacks and they are happy for you to order food to consume on the premises. They also have live music nights usually hosting local acoustic artists.

Lord nelson

The Lord Nelson has plenty of indoor seating as well as outdoor seating in the sunny, riverside beer garden. Also inside there is a pool table and a jukebox. The Lord Nelson offers real ales, and serves cocktails as well as wines and spirits. Traditional British pub food is also available here. The Lord Nelson hosts regular events with live DJs, bands and other live entertainment.


Royal Oak

In the heart of River, a small village in Dover, lies The Royal Oak. The Royal Oak serves real ales and freshly cooked to order food using local ingredients where possible. On Wednesdays they host a charity quiz night and for a slightly higher entry price you are provided with food, on Thursdays they host a curry night and you get a free drink of your choice with your meal and on Sundays they put on a traditional Sunday roast with all the trimmings. They also host various live music events throughout the year.

The Sportsman pub has two dart boards and a modern jukebox inside the pub as well as a skittle alley in the pub garden. They have live music and karaoke events often and after some years without, they proudly serve real ale from the tap.

The Bull inn

The Bull, located in the Buckland area of town, is popular for pub games with a pool table, dart boards and two skittle alleys. The pub garden great in the summer as drinks are served from the outside bar. A changing selection of real ales are available from the two pumps and Saturday nights are always lively as The Bull hosts an eclectic mix of live bands. The Bull also offers a good selection of locally sourced, typical pub food.


The Dewdrop Inn

The Dew Drop Inn, located in Tower Hamlets, is a quirky and fun-loving pub. The pub has been there for over 300 years and is said to be haunted. The pub has a small but fully stocked sweet shop inside as well as being the only pub in Dover to have a bar billiards table. As well as the billiards table, there is also a set of dual professional dart boards. The Dew Drop Inn also provides large portions of hearty pub food including an well priced Sunday roast and snacks throughout the day


The Eagle Tavern

324 London Road, Dover,CT17 0SX

The Eagle is so named due to the two large golden eagle statues that can be seen on the roof of the pub and both the eagles managed to avoid damage during the shelling and bombing during World War II. This pub often hosts bands for live music nights and has a log fire creating a lovely atmosphere on winter evenings.

The Eight Bells

The Eight Bells is the local JD Wetherspoons, therefore offering a wide variety of reasonably priced food and drinks. Inside there is a long bar and lots of seating as well as a raised restaurant area and in front of the pub there is an enclosed seating area which looks out onto the town centre and opposite is St Mary’s Church where the Eight Bells’ name derives from. Two beer festivals are held annually, one in Spring and one in Winter, as well as a cider festival in the Summer. The Eight bells is a Cask Marque accredited pub therefore assessors have ensured the cask ale at this pub is of perfect quality and there are usually two real ales from Kent breweries on offer every week.


The Fox Inn

The Fox Inn has a lovely beer garden with a stream running through equipped with seating, a skittle alley and a children’s play area. They serve real ales and traditional pub food with special food nights each week amongst other events such as bingo and quiz nights. On Tuesdays they host a curry night and on Sunday a traditional carvery however on a Friday night they have a not so traditional steak night as you have a choice of steak which you then cook on a hot stone at your table. The Fox Inn hosts a range of other themed events throughout the year such as Oktoberfest celebrations, their own spring beer festival and a Summer Sports Day.


The Louis Armstrong

58 Maison Dieu Road, Dover , CT16 1RA

The Louis Armstrong is a well renowned performing arts pub which has been under the same ownership for over 50 years. The Louis Armstrong hosts live bands on Friday and Saturday night as well as jazz musicians on Sunday evenings on the stage at the end of the large L shaped bar. They offer a selection of real ales, mostly from local Kent breweries, and a real cider as well as serving home cooked meals weekly on a Wednesday. Whilst they rotate some local ales, the Hopdaemon Skrimshander IPA is a regular. Charity quiz nights are held at the end of every month amongst other events for good causes. There is also a lovely beer garden in the rear for when the weather is nice.


The Old Endeavour

The Old Endeavour has a main bar area, a restaurant area which can be hired for private events and arguably its best feature is the decking on the river, perfect for a relaxing summers day amongst the local wildlife. The Old Endeavour offer sit down meals, buffets and hog roasts for private functions and offer lunch and dinner when events are not taking place. The pub has a regular open mic night, which is usually on the first Sunday of the month, amongst other events such as quizzes and live performances.


The Phoenix Railway Social Club

The Phoenix Railway Social Club is a working men’s club with a cheap membership fee. The Pheonix is liveliest when there are private functions due to the large dancefloor making it a great space for larger parties which the venue are happy to cater.


The Prince Albert

In the middle of Dover town, the Prince Albert offers traditional pub food and has recently extended their outdoor seating for al fresco dining. The Prince Albert supports local brewers by hosting a variety of Real Ales from Kent Brewers, such as Abigale Brewing Company and Gadds The Ramsgate Brewery, at great prices. They also host regular Karaoke nights on a Friday and Sunday and often have live music from local bands guaranteed to provide a lively atmosphere.


The Priory Hotel

The Red Lion

The Red Lion is situated on the river Dour and boasts a real fire for colder evenings and a well-kept, grassy, pub garden with outdoor seating for the summer months. The Red Lion serves well priced, hearty pub food which is freshly made using locally sourced ingredients. Traditional pub games such as darts and skittles can be played here as well as the pub having their own darts, skittles and football teams.


The Rock Rose

The Rock Rose is a family pub in Whitfield, therefore whilst real ales and other alcoholic drinks are served its main feature is its restaurant. The Rock Rose prides itself on their varied menu which offers both traditional pub food as well as more modern twists, all of which uses ethically sourced ingredients. The Rock Rose delivers a range of special offers as they hold a curry night, a pie night, a fish and chip night and a steak night every week. On top of that, The Rock Rose also serve a carvery every day.


The Staggered Inn

Dover’s family run Micro Brewery House. A micropub specialising in real cider and ale.. The ciders are both locally sourced in here in Kent as well as from further afield. A vast majority of which are always changing, keeping it interesting. The firm favourite's however, are always available.

Two light session cask ale is always on as well as a small selection of bottled beers, wine, prosecco, gin and soft drinks. Pub snacks are also available.  The decor is both rustic and colourfully boho. There is also a lovely cider garden out back. We are dog friendly.

White Horse Inn

St James Street, Castle Hill Road, Dover, CT16 1QD

The White Horse Inn is Dover's oldest pub with the building dating back to c 1365. The White Horse has also welcomed Channel Swimmers and been dubbed the Channel Swimmers' pub since 2002 as all those who successfully swim the English Channel are invited to sign their walls, which has made its interior unique and full of character. The White Horse has a lovely roof garden perfect for having a drink outside on a summer evening. It is also a Cask Marque accredited pub therefore assessors have ensured the cask ale at this pub is of perfect quality. They serve traditional, home cooked, pub food which includes a roast on Sundays though booking may be required for Sunday lunch due to high demand. The exception is their weekly free food Wednesdays when the kitchen is closed and you can bring your own food to enjoy on the premises.
